Police and Security
Patrol/Response Officers
With an ever-widening array of drugs and chemicals festering on the streets, and criminals gaining access to cybernetic augmentations, the days of the lightly armed police officer are dead and gone. Body armor, a helmet, and at least an SMG or light carbine are the norm, and stun or even frag grenades are not entirely uncommon. Many officers have partial face-shields on their helmets, some supplementing such equipment with a half-face breathing mask.
SWAT Officers and Tactical Gear
Special Weapons And Tactics remains an integral tool for larger departments, dealing with heavily armed gangs, hostage situations, and other critical operations. Advanced, sealed body armor and sensor-equipped helmets give SWAT officers a tactical edge.
In a crisis, such as large-scale rioting or massive gang activity, a slightly toned-down version of the SWAT-issue Tactical Armor is issued to many members of the department. Though lacking some of the advanced optional features and such, these secondary-issue tactical suits provide superior protection to normal equipment.
